Warts and all…
Last weekend we finished up shooting a little more footage for a promo video we are going to have here on the blog soon for my first book. In thinking about it I realized that I had to be honest about something… if I am going to promote these pages, stories and truths that I fully believe in, than I need to be completely honest about something. This book has warts. There are some misspellings. There are some grammatical mistakes. I even mistakenly botched up an important date in the book.
You see, HALT is an independent project. It’s not a fancy publisher driven thing, it’s a do it yourself/self-published kind of project. That means it all falls on me right now. And you know what, as embarrassed as I was when I first realized that there are some mistakes that slipped through, I’m now ok with it. It’s almost symbolic of this journey so far. It’s far from perfect, but I’m going to keep on trying and doing everything I can to make it the best.
As hard as I try it just seems like I regularly make mistakes. I had a friend edit it and they did a GREAT job and made it read so much better than the way in which it was written. You see, the content is in my head and my heart, but all the grammar stuff… well.
I’ve begun to tell people when they make a comment about it “Sorry, yes there are mistakes, but in many ways it’s a picture of where I am not only in writing the book, but in life.” Just because my names on the cover does not mean that I have it all together. In fact, since the book has come out I’ve become more in touch with the flaws in my character than ever. And I’m grateful for it.
So the book has some warts to it. I’m sorry about that… kinda. I’m proud of the journey God has me and the reflection of that that this book has become.
And let’s look on the positive side- that makes the first printing a collectors edition… warts and all!

I think this is the forward for book number 2!
I love your honesty and I love the thought that while we all try to be perfect, or at least want to *appear* perfect, non of us are.
Good thoughts…good post!
Hope you’re well, buddy!
